Death Of Renowned Primatologist Mourned

he Aligarh Muslim University has expressed a deep sense of grief on the sad demise of Prof. Charles Southwick, a world renowned Primatologist who served the Department of Zoology, AMU for four years as a Fulbright Fellow.

AMU Prepares For Bicentenary Birth Anniversary Of Sir Syed

The Aligarh Muslim University will establish a Centre for Interfaith Dialogue in order to fulfill Sir Syed’s dream of making society more tolerant and liberal. It was decided in a meeting held under the chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah, in connection with the Bicentennial birth anniversary of Sir Syed.

Starting of a Foundation Course on Sir Syed was also discussed in the meeting to increase awareness amongst University students about the founding father, who stands tall amongst the builders of modern India.

New Ward Inaugurated At JNMC Hospital

The Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah today inaugurated a new ward of Pulmonary Medicine, Respiratory ICU and DR-TB Chest at the J. N. Medical College Hospital.
Prof. Rakesh Bhargava, Chairman, Department of TB and Chest said that the new ward is equipped with all modern facilities to provide better treatment facilities to the admitted patients.

Shaikh Al Shareef Visits AMU Library

Shaikh Al Shareef Mustafa Fouad Shafaee, who belongs to the family of the Prophet of Islam, Hazrat Mohammad Mustafa (Peace Be Upon Him) recently visited Aligarh Muslim University’s Maulana Azad Library to see the collection of rare manuscripts and books.

During his visit, he expressed happiness over the availability of the rare documents relating to the pre 18th century particularly on the history of Islam and the cities of Makkah and of Medina.

Senior Secondary School Boys Call Off Their Strike

The protesting students of the Saiyyid Hamid Senior Secondary School, Aligarh Muslim University has called off their three-day long agitation following the assurance by the Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah that their genuine grievances will be redressed after the report is submitted by the enquiry committee.
