The Chief Minister of Kerala, Mr. Oommen Chandy laid the foundation stone of the first academic building of the Aligarh Muslim University Centre at Malappuram, Kerala.
The Aligarh Muslim University has urged the University Grants Commission to allocate a separate grant of Rs. 168.75 Crore for various developmental projects and launching of new faculties and departments. It has further asked for Rs. 269.55 Crore financial help for the infrastructural development at its centres in Malappuram (Kerala), Murshidabad (West Bengal) and Kishanganj (Bihar).

Three female teachers of the Aligarh Muslim University, in a letter written to the National Commission for Women, have termed the charges of gender discrimination against the AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah, levelled by Dr. Gulfishan Khan, Associate Professor in the Department of History, as “baseless and deplorable”.
The Admission Tests for admission to Class XI (Science) and Diploma in Engineering of the Aligarh Muslim University were conducted in a peaceful manner today.
More than 33000 candidates have applied for admission to Class XI (Science). For this course, entrance test was conducted from 10 am to 12 noon at five centres at Aligarh, Lucknow, Meerut, Patna and Srinagar out of which 20895 candidates appeared at 38 local centres in Aligarh.
The Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah has appreciated the vigilant role of the Controller of Examination’s office of the University in analyzing the results of AMU’s MBBS/BDS entrance examinations carefully and identifying the “unusual” large number of successful candidates belonging to a particular test centre. He said that it was possible that hi-tech computer applications might have been used for cheating at this centre.

While processing the results of Entrance Examination for MBBS/BDS (2015-16), the Office of the Controller of Examination found it fit to bring certain issues to the notice of the Vice Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University. Accordingly, the Vice Chancellor called a special meeting of the Executive Council, which constituted a three member committee to conduct a preliminary enquiry into the matter under the Chairmanship of Prof. S. N.
A US based non-profit organization “The Frank Islam and Debbie Driesman Foundation” (FIDDF) has released a sum of Rs. 1.5 crore as the first installment to the Aligarh Muslim University for the construction of a new Management Complex which will house Frank and Debbie Islam Department of Management and Faculty of Management Studies and Research. Mr. Frank Islam is an alumnus of this University.
