Cycle Mart Opened at AMU to Accomplish ‘campus green’ Target

The Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Zameer Uddin Shah inaugurated the “AMU Cycle Mart”, a unique initiative, at Raza Lodge, opposite Sir Sulaiman Hall Gate, Anoopshahar Road, Aligarh, towards achieving the target of a green and clean campus.

AMU Ranked Fifth Among Indian Universities

The Week-Hansa Research has placed the Aligarh Muslim University at fifth position in its prestigious Best Universities Survey 2014.

Published in the June 1, 2014 issue of The Week, the survey report has included fifty universities in its study, giving fifth rank to the Aligarh Muslim University with a score of 502 out of 1000. University of Delhi holds the first position with a score of 717. Banaras Hindu University, Jawaharlal Nehru University and University of Hyderabad hold second, third and fourth positions respectively.

Girl Tops Class X Examination at AMU

Anshu Chaudhary secured first position with 91.80% marks in the Secondary School Certificate (Class X) Examination-2014 of the Aligarh Muslim University.
 
The result of Secondary School Certificate Examination was declared today by the Controller of Examination. Uttam Bhardwaj consolidated 2nd position for him with 90.40% marks while Syed Faraz Ali and Mohd.

MBBS/BDS entrance test organized peacefully

The most prestigious entrance test for admission to MBBS/BDS of the Aligarh Muslim University was conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner at Aligarh, Lucknow, Allahabad, Bareilly, Bhopal, Kozhikode, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Srinagar. In all, about 51 thousand candidates applied for the entrance test at various test centres. More than 17 thousand candidates opted for Aligarh Centre.
 
AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Zameer Uddin Shah along with senior University officials visited more than a dozen test centres in Aligarh.

MBBS Student Shines in Literature

A book of poetry, ‘Feelings Take Flight’, penned by Fatima Khan, student of MBBS at the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, was released by Pro-Vice Chancellor, Brigadier (Retd) S Ahmad Ali at the Cultural Hall of the Maulana Azad Library, Aligarh Muslim University.
 
Brig. Ali lauded the poetic acumen of Ms. Fatima and wished her a bright future both as an accomplished doctor and a top ranking poetess.

Scholarships Instituted

A Canada based alumnus of the Aligarh Muslim University, Mohd. Zia has instituted three scholarships in the department of Education, AMU with a cost of Rs. 4 Lac 50 thousand in memory of his three deceased family members.
 
One scholarship will be awarded to a girl student who secures highest marks in B. Ed. (Science stream) in memory of his mother Maqsood Jahan Begum. Another scholarship will be awarded to a girl student who obtains highest marks in MA (Education) in memory of Prof.

American Scientist Visits AMU

A team of researchers at RICE University, Texas (USA) visited the Aligarh Muslim University and met Dr. Fareed Ahmad Khan, Department of Botany and other faculty members.
 
The purpose of this visit was to understand how scientists around the world think about the social contexts of science including ethics, religion, gender and family life.

AMU Faculty Publishes a Book

Dr. Asiya Chaudhary, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, Aligarh Muslim University has published a book on "Textile Industry in 21st Century". The Discovery Publishing House Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi has brought out the book.
 
Dr. Chaudhary said that the importance of textile industry cannot be ignored even at global level. The world has been fighting to protect the textile industry from textile rich nations through STA, LTA or MFA.

AMU Faculty to Deliver Keynote Address at International Seminar

Professor Mohammad Gulrez, Director, Center for South African and Brazilian Studies, Aligarh Muslim University will deliver the keynote address at the International Seminar on “Social inequalities in higher education: Identifying parallels in India and Brazil” during May 23-24, 2014 at the Department of Adult, Continuing Education and Extension, University of Pune, Maharashtra. Professor Gulrez said that speakers from Brazil and India would discuss the various aspects of social inequalities in higher education in the two countries.
