To stop the horrific pandemic of violence against women, Aligarh Muslim University today joined the protests and celebrations around the world to mark the ‘International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.’
For the celebration, the Centre for Women Studies, AMU today organized poetry, photography and T-Shirt painting competitions in which scores of AMU students from various departments, university schools and other schools participated.
Chemistry Department, Aligarh Muslim University organized a lecture by Prof. Tariq Haqqi, Northeast Ohio Medical University, USA on “Dietary Antioxidant: Useful or Useless in Osteoarthriris”.
In his lecture, Professor Haqqi highlighted the role of reactive oxygen species in the treatment of rheumatoid and osteoarthritis. He also threw light on the use of pomegranate and butea monosperma (Gulmohar) plant in the treatment of arthritis and various other bone diseases.
Professor Nafis Ahmad Faruqi, Department of Anatomy, J.N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University delivered a lecture on "Traditional Methods of Embalming" in Post-Conference Workshop under 63rd NATCON of Anatomical Society of India on “Soft Embalming for Cadaveric Surgery”. The Workshop was held at the Department of Anatomy, Era's Lucknow Medical College & Hospital, Lucknow.
“It is rightly said that no graduate of any university loves his or her Alma mater as strongly as the graduates of Aligarh Muslim University love their alma mater. Anywhere in the world there are a number of old boys and girls, they form an Alumni forum for socializing and doing something for the University’s progress. The Emirates chapter of the Alumni is one of the most active and prominent amongst many whose members have always come up to support their alma mater”, said Pro-Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Brigadier S.
BA LLB (third year) student of Aligarh Muslim University, Mr.Amaan Ali Shah brought laurels to Aligarh Muslim University yet again after qualifying for the National Games 2016 to participate in the Rifle Shooting event.
This young shooter from AMU recently won the North Zone, Dr.Karni Singh shooting Range at Tughlabad, New Delhi.
A distinguished AMU alumnus, Prof. Tariq Haqqi, North East Medical University, Ohio, US delivered a lecture on "Opportunities of Higher Education in USA" at the Training and Placement Office (General), Aligarh Muslim University. The lecture was organized by the Aligarh Alumni Association of New England (AAANE), USA and the TPO, AMU.
Dr Syed Ziaur Rahman, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacology, J N Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University recently delivered a guest lecture on “Drug Residues as Environmental Pollutants and Potential Impact on Human Health and Life” at the 15th Annual Conference of Society of Pharmacovigilance India (SoPI) at Kolkatta.
During his lecture, Dr Rahman highlighted the significance of drug-environment interaction and its impact on human health and life.
The Office of the Controller of Examinations, Aligarh Muslim University has declared the dates of competitive entrance examinations scheduled to take place in 2016.
AMU will conduct the MBBS/BDS, Tier I, entrance examination test on April 10, 2016 while the Tier II test for admissions in the MBBS/BDS courses will be conducted on May 29, 2016.
The Centre of Cardiology, J N Medical College, AMU recently organized a free pacemaker camp, which was attended by a large number of patients on single and dual chamber pacemaker, CRT and ICD.
During the camp, Professor M U Rabbani, Director, Centre of Cardiology informed that Pacemaker is a device surgically implanted in patients with low heart rates, while ICD is a technologically more advance version of pacemakers to restore heart rhythm by giving electric shock internally in life threatening heart rhythm disturbances.
